Lets talk about after the massage #aftercare

After a massage, it's important to take care of your body to maximise the benefits and minimise any potential side effects. Here are some aftercare tips to follow:

  1. Hydrate: Drink plenty of water after your massage to help flush out toxins released during the massage and to prevent dehydration. Water also helps rehydrate your muscles and tissues.

  2. Rest: Allow yourself some time to relax and rest after the massage. Your body may feel relaxed and slightly fatigued, so it's a good idea to take it easy for the rest of the day if possible.

  3. Avoid strenuous activities: Try to avoid intense physical activities, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise immediately after a massage. Your muscles need time to recover and adjust.

  4. Listen to your body: Pay attention to how your body feels after the massage. If you experience any discomfort, pain, or unusual sensations, inform your massage therapist or seek medical attention if necessary.

  5. Stretching and mobility exercises: Gentle stretching or mobility exercises can help maintain the flexibility and range of motion of your muscles and joints.

  6. Epsom salt bath: Taking a warm bath with Epsom salts can further relax your muscles and soothe any soreness. The magnesium in Epsom salts can be absorbed through your skin and help with muscle recovery.

  7. Avoid caffeine and alcohol: These substances can dehydrate your body, so it's best to avoid them immediately after a massage. Opt for herbal tea or water instead. I always give you a tea to take home, so have that.

  8. Eat a light meal: Avoid heavy, greasy, or large meals immediately after a massage. A light and easily digestible meal is a better choice.

  9. Dress warmly: Your body temperature may drop slightly after a massage, so dress warmly to stay comfortable and prevent chilling.

  10. If you have any concerns or questions about your massage or how you're feeling afterward, don't hesitate to reach out to me for guidance and advice.

  11. Schedule follow-up sessions: To get the most out of massage, look at booking a series of sessions, for optimum results.

  12. Maintain self-care: Regular self-care practices, such as stretching, exercise, and meditation/ mindfulness, can complement the benefits of massage therapy and help you maintain a healthy body and mind.

Enjoy the wonderful experience of massage and see how it supports a healthy mind and body.

Namaste,

Mandy
