Marma points, what are they ?

When you come for a massage with me, I may rub certain points on your body. Why? I hear you ask. It's because I am stimulating your marma points.

Marma points are specific points on the body in Ayurvedic medicine that are believed to be vital areas where muscles, nerves, bones, joints, and blood vessels meet. They are considered to be sensitive areas where the body's life force energy, or prana, is concentrated.

In simple terms, you can think of marma points as key locations on the body where important functions and energy pathways intersect. Similar to acupuncture points in Traditional Chinese Medicine, stimulating marma points is believed to help balance the body's energy flow and promote health and well-being.

There are 107 marma points in total, and each point has its own unique significance and effects when stimulated. They are often used in various healing practices such as massage, yoga, and Ayurvedic treatments to promote physical and emotional wellness.

Namaste,
